Chapter 1
by Matthew

The weekend food market was just opening. The man opened the gate and the crowd poured in like a sea. In a dark alley near the entrance, a group of kids were hiding in the shadows.

"When I say go, casually walk into the crowd, then split up and take some food," said Terrence. Henry and Christian nodded their heads in unison.
"Remember to use your advantages to help you. Henry, you're fast and strong, however not the brightest person. Christian, you're very smart, but not that athletic.

Terrence looked outside of the alley. "Don't get caught," he said. "Go," he whispered. They all walked out. A few suspicious glances from citizens were received, but no action was taken. Christian raced over quickly to a kiosk that was selling salt. Sneaking past the man running the kiosk, Christian scooped some salt from a basket before pouring it into his pockets. He started to look for the bread stall. A big crowd surrounded the stall however. As he turned his back on the stall, he saw Terrence being pulled away by some security guards.

Christian froze. He looked around for Henry but couldn't see find him. "What do I do?" he thought frantically. Then, Terrence's words rang in his head,"Remember to use your advantages to help you." Christian thought a bit. Then he got an idea. He followed them, his pockets heavy with salt.

"What do you think you are doing!?" said the guard. Terrence focused at the path straight ahead of him and ignored the guard. The guard reached for his back and pulled out a whip. He raised his arm, revealing a open wound cut. Christian noticed this and tried to use it to his advantage. "If I throw the salt at his wound he will stop trying to whip Terrence!" Christian walked in a different direction from the torture. "Are you sure you're not gonna tell me?!" spat the guard. Christian raced toward the guard and his friend quickly and tossed the salt at the armed man. At the exact same moment, the guard lifted up his arm and the salt penetrated the wound. The guard wailed in pain and dropped the whip. Terrence got up and dragged the guard into an alley. "Thanks Chris," said Terrence.

"I followed your command, formulated a plan, and tried to execute it," said Christian with a smile. "Then, I noticed the guard's wound, changing my plan a bit." Behind them, they heard a groan and looked back at the alley. Henry was there, standing above the guard. The guard was still and lay numbly.

"Glad to see me, aren't you?" Henry said, standing proudly. They all had a moment of satisfaction.

Suddenly, a women's voice shouted out,"That's them!". Guards sprinted into the alley.

"Here!" Terrence shouted running away from the guards. Henry and Christian followed. They climbed up a ladder to find that it led to a rooftop. Christian looked around to see nothing but the desert all around them. He looked back at the city before spotting another group of guards running through the alleys.

"Halt!" A guard had climbed up the ladder. Henry stepped on the guard's hand that was gripping the ladder and he fell, knocking over the other climbing guards. The trio dashed across the rooftop. No guards were there.

Suddenly, Christian heard a loud clanging sound behind him. He looked up and saw a helicopter with a machine gun clanking away.

"Down here!" Terrence shouted. He climbed into a hole on the roof of the building. Christian jumped in after him. The building was a dough factory. Workers stirred away at white dough. "Get them!" guards came running out of the hallway knocking people down, a unlucky man fell into the dough and drowned. They were cornered. "Guys, follow me! Wait, where's Henry?!" They looked up and saw Henry waving bye and shutting the escape door to the roof. "Traitor!" Terrence yelled.
